Pedalling into Hungary
Pedalling into Spring
There were few formalities at the Austria - Hungary border, but it was a big change. In a few kilometres, we went from winter to spring, and back in time 30 years. Suddenly there was there was blossom on all the trees and warm sunshine. But all the buildings and cars were from the 1970s. After the weeks on teutonicly smooth tarmac, we became reacquainted with potholes.

CyclabilityBHungary is making some serious efforts to put cycle paths in place - there are good ones around Gyor and Lake Balaton. Some of the main roads are a bit nervewracking as most of them don't have hard shoulders. Otherwise, traffic is generally light and it was delightful cycling.
Cake ratingCMostly we had to rely on Tesco hypermarkets for of our grub. No really good cakes.
AccommodationBIt was easy finding good wild campsites. There were lots of B&Bs around Lake Balaton, but they were all closed when were there.
